If you are going to move your DataFrame, you should park the drive heads first. The heads are the parts of the drive mechanism that read from and write to the disk, and if they are jarred, damage to the disk can result. Parking the drive heads moves them away from the disk for safety when the drive is moved. To park the drive heads, hold down the Option key while choosing Shut Down from the Special menu in the Finder. NEVER MOVE THE DRIVE WHILE THE POWER IS ON, since this can cause the heads to touch the delicate disk platter and damage it.
With the heads parked, the drive can be safely transported, but should not be subjected to unnecessary shocks. In general, handle your DataFrame as you would a fine stereo component.
If you are traveling to a foreign country, your DataFrame may need to be converted to run on 220-volt AC current. This conversion is a simple process that can be performed by any SuperMac dealer. Contact your dealer or call SuperMac Technical Support for assistance.
